GUIDED HIKING & TREKKING

"Hiking" trips are hotel-based. After each day’s hike you'll return to sleep in comfortable accommodations at night.

Our hotels and inns are located in attractive and interesting towns and villages.

"Trekking" means some days you'll sleep in huts high up in the mountains. Other nights you’ll sleep in comfortable hotels down in the valleys.

Nights in mountain huts allow us to access higher, more remote and often more spectacular terrain.

On "trekking" trips, some days you’ll hike from a trailhead up to a hut, others from hut to hut and others from hut down to a trailhead.

On all guided trips, you’ll be accompanied by an experienced mountain guide who knows the local area well and speaks good English.

Our guides provide in-depth insight to local nature, fauna, flora, geology, customs and culture as well as ensuring your safety and well-being at all times.

All local transport is included between accommodations and hike start and end points.

Depending on your preference, we can also arrange transport between the local area and larger cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Toulouse or Bordeaux.

SELF-GUIDED HIKING & TREKKING

"Self-guided" means you hike "on your own" (not accompanied by a professional mountain guide), at your own pace, stopping where and when you want, without the constraints of other group members.

We provide you with detailed route notes, a marked topographic map and GPS info.

The routes we choose for you on these trips are easy to follow, however you should have a certain minimum level of experience of "independent" hiking in the mountains as well as basic competence in map-reading and orientation skills in general.

Option to hire a local mountain guide for some days to learn more about the local environment or try a more adventurous route accompanied by an expert.

Hiking trips feature day hikes returning to sleep in a hotel or inn each night.

Trekking itineraries include some days sleeping in mountain huts and easy hut-to-hut hikes.

Self-guided trips are typically on a self-drive basis with a rental or hire car.
